Denver Broncos is an American professional football team that is based in Denver, Colorado. The team competes as an American Football Conference (AFC) West Division in the National Football League (NFL). The franchise was established on August 14, 1959, and it began playing in 1960. They joined the NFL in 1970. The Broncos play their home games at Empower Field at Mild High. Before this, they used to play their home games at Mile High Stadium from 1960-2000. Through their initial years, the team was not very competitive; in fact, they were unable to win a single season until 1973. The team reached their first-ever playoff in 1977, since then, they have become one of the most successful NFL teams. The franchise is owned by the Estate of Pat Bowlen (Joe Ellis, a Trustee).
Denver Broncos’ official color theme for their uniform is white, orange, and navy blue. The team has two official mascots, including Miles (costume suit) and Thunder II (live horse). The franchise has won three Super Bowl championships (1997 (XXXII), 1998 (XXXIII), and 2015 (50)). The Broncos have won eight AFC championships (1977, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1997, 1998, 2013, 2015). The franchise has the honor to become the first-ever team that defeated an NFL team against Detroit Lions during a preseason game where they defeated the opponent team by 13-7. The team was about to shut down in 1965 when the local ownership group took over the control and saved the franchise.
The Denver Broncos have inducted several players in their Hall of Fame list, including Willie Brown (1984), Tony Dorsett (1994), Gary Zimmerman (2008), Shannon Sharpe (2011), Terrell Davis (2017), Champ Bailey (2019) and a few more.
