The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team that is based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The team was founded on October 26, 1993, and played its first season in 1995. The club plays as a member club of the league's National Football Conference (NFC) South division in the National Football League (NFL). The Carolina Panthers are headquartered in Bank of America Stadium right in the uptown Charlotte. This stadium also serves as the home field for the team. The Panthers also played their home games at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina.
The annual training camp of the franchise is hosted at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The Panthers are under the ownership of David Tepper while Tom Glick is the team president. The team is legally registered as Panther Football, LLC. According to Forbes, the Panthers are worth approximately US$2.3 billion.
The Carolina Panthers earned zero League championships, 2 Conference championships (NFC; 2003 and 2015), and 6 Division championships (1 NFC West: 1996 and 4 NFC South; 2003, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015). The official uniform theme of the club remained nearly the same from its birth. The three main jersey colors of the team ate black, blue, and white. The newest blue jerseys of the team were announced in 2002 as an alternate uniform.
The Carolina Panthers are supported in both; North Carolina and South Carolina. July 30, 2012, is declared as the "Carolina Panthers Day" by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in her state. The official mascot of the team is Sir Purr, an anthropomorphic black cat. It wears the jersey numbered '00'. Carolina Topcats are the team's cheerleaders, a group of 24 women who cheer fans and lead cheers during the home games. The team’s official fight song is, "Stand and Cheer."
