Chicago Information

Chicago is my kind of town. It might be referred to as the second city but it is first in many ways when it comes to entertainment choices. They have everything that a mega city should offer. Not many cities offer two MLB franchises the White Sox and Cubs. As well as an NHL Franchise in the Chicago Blackhawks, The ever-famous Bulls in the NBA, and of course the storied Chicago Bears. Not to be left out is the new up-and-comer the Chicago Fire in the MLS. Chicago has a thriving theatre scene and every type of concert venue imaginable. One thing Chicago is famous for that no other city can boast is the Second City Improv Club which has launched many comedians into fame on Saturday Night Live and beyond.

Lets start with the biggest of the fan favorites the sports scene in Chicago. Chicago Bulls (NBA) - The Bulls are one of the most iconic teams in NBA history, known for their dominance during the 1990s when they won six championships with Michael Jordan leading the way. They play their home games at the United Center. Chicago Bears (NFL) - The Bears are one of the oldest and most storied franchises in the NFL. They have won nine NFL Championships, including one Super Bowl championship in 1985. They play their home games at Soldier Field. Chicago Cubs (MLB) - The Cubs are one of the two Major League Baseball teams in Chicago. They play in the National League Central division and have a strong fan base. The Cubs ended a long championship drought by winning the World Series in 2016. They play their home games at Wrigley Field. Chicago White Sox (MLB) - The White Sox are the other Major League Baseball team in Chicago. They play in the American League Central division and have won three World Series championships, the most recent in 2005. They play their home games at Guaranteed Rate Field. Chicago Blackhawks (NHL) - The Chicago Blackhawks are a storied NHL franchise with a rich history, having won multiple Stanley Cup championships, including three titles in the 2010s. They play their home games at the United Center. Chicago Fire(MLS) - Chicago Fire FC is a professional soccer club that competes in Major League Soccer. They were one of the founding members of MLS and have won several domestic and international titles. They play their home games at Soldier Field. Few cities offer the amount of success that the Chicago teams do.

The Theatre scene in Chicago is vibrant, diverse, and renowned worldwide. Often referred to as the "Theatre Capital of America" outside of New York City, Chicago is home to a multitude of theatre companies, venues, and artists, offering a wide range of productions from classic plays to cutting-edge experimental works. Here are some key aspects of the Chicago theatre scene. Cadillac Palace Theatre: A historic theatre located in Chicago's Loop district, known for its grand architecture and ornate décor. CIBC Theatre (formerly known as the PrivateBank Theatre): Situated in the Loop, this theatre is known for hosting long-running Broadway hits and large-scale productions. James M. Nederlander Theatre (formerly the Oriental Theatre): Another iconic theatre in the Loop, known for its lavish interior and hosting a variety of Broadway shows. The Goodman Theatre: The Goodman is another major player in Chicago's theatre scene. Established in 1925, it has a long history of producing classic and contemporary plays, as well as nurturing new works through its developmental programs. Look for the biggest and best performances here like Wicked, Hamilton, and Lion King.

Chicago offers a vast array of concert types and venues. All major nationwide tours stop here. United Center: Primarily known as the home arena for the Chicago Bulls (NBA) and the Chicago Blackhawks (NHL), the United Center also hosts major concerts and live performances by renowned artists. It has a seating capacity of over 23,000, making it one of the largest indoor arenas in the United States. Wrigley Field: This historic baseball stadium, home to the Chicago Cubs (MLB), occasionally hosts concerts during the summer months. The iconic venue offers a unique and memorable setting for live music events, with a capacity of over 41,000. Wrigley concerts end early at night so keep that in mind. Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island: Situated on the shores of Lake Michigan, this outdoor amphitheater offers stunning views of the Chicago skyline. It hosts a variety of concerts and music festivals throughout the summer season, with a seating capacity of around 30,000. Aragon Ballroom: Located in the Uptown neighborhood, the Aragon Ballroom is a historic venue known for its ornate architecture and intimate atmosphere. It hosts concerts by a diverse range of artists and bands, spanning multiple genres.

These are just a few examples of the many concert venues in Chicago, each offering its own unique ambiance and contributing to the city's vibrant music scene. Combined with the Sports teams and Theater performances Chicago has something for everyone to enjoy.
