The team competes in MLB (Major League Baseball) as a member of the National League’s (NL) East Division. The Phillies play their home games at Citizens Bank Park. They also played their home games formerly at Recreation Park (1883-1886), Baker Bowl (1887-1938), Connie Mack Stadium (1938-1970), and Veterans Stadium (1971-2003). The team was founded in 1883 as Philadelphia Quackers. They were also known as Philadelphia Quackers/Phillies through 1884-1889 and eventually became a Philadelphia Phillies in 1890.
The Phillies have won overall 7 NL Pennants, 11 East Division titles, and 2 World Series titles so far. Since 2009, the Phillies have won 9,035 games out of 19,035 games played.
The Phillies are often called with several nicknames such as The Fightin’ Phils, The Fightins, and The Phils. The official uniform colors selected by the team are blue, white, and red. The Phillies are considered as one of the most successful franchises in MLB since the Divisional Era started. They played 77 consecutive seasons before winning their first-ever World Series.
The Phillie Phanatic is the official mascot for the Philadelphia Phillies. It is a large green bird with an extendable tongue. The team has inducted many Hall of Famers including Tim Keefe, Johnny Evers, Bucky Harris, Joe Morgan, Mike Schmidt, Roger Connor, Sparky Anderson, Dave Bancroft, Jim Bunning, and several others.
