Anaheim Ducks Information
The Anaheim Ducks are the Anaheim-based professional ice hockey team (Anaheim, California). The team is a member of the Pacific Division (Western Conference) of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Ducks played their home games at the Honda Center since their inception. The team was founded in 1993 by The Walt Disney Company, entitled “the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim” (inspired by the movie “The Mighty Duck”). The franchise was sold to Henry and Susan Samueli, who selected the current name of the team. The Ducks have Black, Metallic Gold, Silver, and Orange uniforms.
The Anaheim Ducks created playoffs 14 times and were also a winner to six Pacific Division titles, including (2006–07, 2012–13, 2013–14, 2014–15, 2015–16, 2016–17). They also won two Western Conference championships (2002–03 and 2006–07) along with a single Stanley Cup (2006–07). The franchise sold out 27 out of 41 home-games (with 25 last ones). The official mascot of the team is an anthropomorphized duck called “Wild Wing.”
The Anaheim Ducks also have two rivalries with two teams; Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks out of geographical proximity. The former Hockey Hall of Fame members included in the franchise is Sergei Fedorov, Paul Kariya, Jari Kurri, Scott Niedermayer, Adam Oates, Chris Pronger, and Teemu Selanne. The present team captain is Ryan Getzlaf, while the present general manager is Bob Murray.
