41-year-old Christopher Alvin Stapleton is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and a record producer. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, but grew up in Staffordsville, Kentucky. He later moved out to Nashville, Tennessee.
His musical career began in 2001 as a songwriter. Stapleton got signed by the Sea Gayle Music not only as a writer but also to publish his songs. By last year, Chris Stapleton had been credited for writing and co-writing over 170 songs. Some of his greatest works include Kenny Chesney’s Never Wanted Nothing More, which remained No.1 in the charts for five weeks in a row. He has also written Luke Bryan’s Drink a Beer and George Strait’s Love’s Gonna Make It Alright.
Other music artists that have sung songs written by Stapleton include Vince Gill, Ed Sheeran, Peter Frampton, and Sherly Crow. He has also been recognized for his writing with a number of awards including 10 Country Music Association (CMA) Awards, seven Academy of Country Music (ACM), and five Grammy Awards.
Other than writing, Chris Stapleton is a vocalist to reckon with, having sung as a lead in two bands before embarking on a solo career between 2008 and 2010. In 2015, he released his first solo debut Traveller, which rose to No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The track was also certified triple platinum by RIAA. Stapleton’s second album, From A Room: Volume 1 released May 2017 earned him his second CMA Award under the Album of the Year category and a Grammy Award under the Best Country Album category.
