Atlanta Falcons Information
The Atlanta Falcons are a professional American football team that is based in Atlanta, Georgia. The team was founded on June 30, 1965, and played its first season in 1966. The team competes as a member club of the league's National Football Conference (NFC) South division in the National Football League (NFL). The joined the league as an expansion team while it was under the ownership of Rankin Smith. The current home field for the Falcons is Mercedes-Benz Stadium, while some of the former ones are Atlanta–Fulton County Stadium (1966–1991) and Georgia Dome (1992–2016). The team is headquartered in Flowery Branch, Georgia.
The Atlanta Falcons are also nicknamed as The Dirty Birds and the Grits Blitz (1977 defense). The team has appeared 14 times in the playoffs and won none of the League championships. The Falcons won two Conference championships (1998, 2016) and six Division championships (NFC West: 1980, 1998 and NFC South: 2004, 2010, 2012, 2016).
The official uniform color of the Falcons is red, black, silver, and white. The official mascot of the team is Freddie Falcon. New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are some of the team’s rivalries. The players of the team that has been inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Famers are; Tommy McDonald, Eric Dickerson, Deion Sanders, Claude Humphrey, Morten Andersen, and a few more.
