Chicago Bears is an American professional football team that is based in Chicago, Illinois. They compete as a member club of the National Football Conference (NFC) North Division in the National Football League (NFL). The franchise was founded on September 17, 1920, in Decatur, Illinois. Later, in 1921 the Bears moved to Chicago. The Chicago Bears played their home games at Wrigley Field on the North Side of Chicago during the 1970 season, whereas the team is currently playing at Soldier Field. Their long-standing rival is the Green Bay Packers. Halas Hall is the headquarter of the team located in Chicago. The Bears were initially founded as Decatur Staleys by the A. E. Staley, a food starch company, brought them to the front as a company team. Virginia Halas McCaskey owns the franchise.
The Chicago Bears have won nine NFL championships so far that includes one super bowl as well. The franchise also holds the NFL record for the most retired jersey numbers as well as the most enshrinees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. They have accumulated more victories than any other franchise in the NFL. The uniform color theme for the Bears is white, burnt orange, and Navy blue. The Bears had two unofficial mascots before the 2003 season named “Bearman” and “Rocky.” Currently, the official mascot for the franchise is Staley Da Bear.
The Chicago Bears have also won four conference championships so far, including NFL Western two times in 1956 and 1963, along with two times NFC in 1985 and 2006. They have also won 19 division championships. The franchise has inducted several players in their Hall of Fame, including Bronko Nagurski (1963), William R. Lyman (1964), Paddy Driscol (1965), and several others.
