Utah Jazz Information
The Utah Jazz is an American professional basketball team founded in 1974. The team is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and plays its home games at Vivint Smart Home Arena. As a member club of the National Basketball Association’s Western Conference, Northwest Division, they compete in the league. The Jazz was formerly known as New Orleans Jazz (1974-1979).
The Jazz qualified for their first playoff appearance in 1984, after ten elapsed seasons. They had been one of the least successful teams in their early years of the league. During the New Orleans tenure, the team’s home jersey was white with gold while road jersey was purple with gold. With the period, they kept updating and modernizing their uniforms. The team’s current jersey consists of three prominent colors; navy, gold, and green. Jazz Bear is the mascot of the Utah Jazz team, which is often seen on court during halftime on a motorbike.
Utah Jazz has had the privilege to win a total of 2 Conference titles (1997, 1998) and 9 Division titles (1984, 1989, 1992, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2007, 2008, 2017). Those players who were inducted into the Basketball Hall of Famers include Pete Maravich, Walt Bellamy, Gail Goodrich, Adrian Dantley, John Stockton, and Spencer Haywood, along with few others. Frank Layden was awarded the NBA Coach of the Year award in 1984, due to he outclass coaching.
