The show is based on Strictly Come Dancing, which is telecast in the UK. Since its inception in 2005, the host of Dancing with the Stars is Tom Bergeron who was later joined by Erin Andrews in the eighteenth season. The show is about to premier its 29th season in 2019. Every year there are two seasons premiered, one in the Spring and the other in the Fall season. The last season was premiered in 2018 and it was the 27th season.
The format of Dancing with the Stars is to pair a celebrity with a professional dancer. As the season progresses, each couple perform various choreographed dance routines and compete against each other. Every week one couple is eliminated while the others progress to the next round with the marks given by judges and the audience votes. This continues until the finales show where only one winner remains.
