Tony-winning Broadway musical ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ is based on the musical book by Steven Levenson. It is a masterpiece which revolves around a teenage boy named Evan Hansen who suffers from social anxiety. He visits a therapist who suggests he write letters to himself to overcome this problem. His mother’s name is Heidi, who insists that he make new friends. On the other hand, the Murphy family is wealthy, and they have two kids, Zoe and Connor. The latter has a habit of getting high before going to school. The story revolves around Evan struggling with his social anxiety and how Connor’s eventual suicide affects and changes him.
In December 2016, Dear Evan Hansen Musical made its Broadway debut at the iconic Music Box Theatre in New York. The music and lyrics of the musical are credited to Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The musical has won multiple awards. After being nominated for nine Tony Awards at the 71st Tony Awards, the cast and crew won six of them including Best Musical and Best Score. It is still one of the most popular Broadway musicals to date.
