Universoul Circus is a circus which was established by Cedric Walker in 1994. Cedric Walker had a vision of forming a circus, an African-American who involved a large percentage of people of varied cast and colour performing. He began his search for talented people all around the world. From 24 different countries around the world, performers came to be a part of this circus. Universoul Circus headquarters is in Atlanta, Georgia. The first performance took place in 1994 at the parking lot of Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. The circus tour grew to 10 cities in 1997, 19 cities in 1999, 31 cities in 2000 and by 2005 to 32 cities. Universoul Circus’s first International tour of South Africa was completed in 2001.
To recognize individuals with outstanding abilities in the entertainment industry who contributed more to society than just entertainment, the UniverSoul Circus came up with the Humanitarian Award. Even after all these good deeds, one cannot ignore the cruelty animals face at Universoul Circus. Universoul Circus faced several allegations of cruelty against animals which dates back to 1997 to the present time. Despite the public protest against such acts, Universoul continues to employ animals into performing tricks for the audience, albeit under duress. Their popularity goes on increasing unhindered despite this matter.
