R. Brown, former coach of the team, led New Mexico State Aggies to gain an undefeated season in 1923. During this season, the team made nine wins.
Years after, in 1958, Warren Woodson N started to coach the team and helped it beat its biggest rival North Texas State. During his tenure, the team took reward of Sun Bowl home.
