Tegan and Sara are an indie-pop duo. They are identical twins who are from Canada. Born in September 1980, Tegan Rain Quin and Sara Keirsten Quin had a keen interest in music since they were kids. They are songwriters and multi-instrumentalists who started learning the guitar from the age of 15. Tegan and Sara have cited that their inspirations include Green Day, Nirvana and Hole, who have influenced their music.
Tegan and Sara had their debut album ‘Under Feet Like Ours’ released in the year 1998. This album was released independently under the "Sara and Tegan" name. However, later they changed their name to "Tegan and Sara" because people thought they were a solo artist named "Sara Antegan". Thereafter, their first album was also reprinted under the same name. Tegan and Sara released their sixth album Sainthood in 2009, which received considerable success. This album proved that the duo had matured as it reflected in their songs. Sainthood debuted on the Billboard top 200 albums at number 21. Over 20,000 copies of the album were sold in its first week itself. Tegan and Sara songs include “Closer”, Boyfriend”, “Nineteen”, “I know I know I know”, “Alligator”.
