Straight No Chaser Information
Straight No Chaser’s name was inspired by the title track of Thelonious Monk's 1967 album Straight, No Chaser. Popularly known SNC, they are a musical acapella group that gives professional performances of a cappella form which is either a solo or group performance without any instruments. SNC first originated at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
The members primarily include Dan Ponce, Dave Roberts, Jrome Collins, Steve Morgan, Randy Stine, Charlie Mechling, Walter Chase, Patrick Hachey and Mike Itkoff. These eight members started and formed the group in the year 1996 as Indiana University students.
They became famous after one of their videos called “The 12 Days of Christmas” went viral with more than 8 millions views on their YouTube channel. On current records, it has been viewed over 22 million times on the same channel.
Their viral video resulted in the five-album studio record contract with the Label Atlantic Records. In the year 2009, they won the CARA award for Best Holiday Album for Holiday Spirits and was also nominated for Best Holiday Song for "Carol of the Bells" on Holiday Spirits.
Their albums in order of their release dates are - Holiday Spirits, Christmas Cheers, With a Twist, Under the Influence, The New Old Fashioned and I’ll Have Another Christmas Album.
