Skillet Information
Formed in the year 1996, Skillet is a rock band from the city of Memphis, Tennessee in The United States of America. The band’s current line-up consists of John Cooper as the lead vocalist, Korey Cooper – John’s wife, as the rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist, Jen Ledger as the drummer and Seth Morrison as the bassist. To date, Skillet has released ten albums, out of which two were nominated for the Grammy’s. The band is known for being hard-working because of they are non-stop touring.
Skillet was started as a side project by the lead vocalist and founder John Cooper and former guitarist and founder Ken Steorts. They met each other while on tour with their respective bands back in the day. Once their groups broke up, they decided to form a band themselves and named it Skillet as a joke. They wanted to see how the mixing of different genres in a “Skillet” would sound like. From alternative rock, Christian rock to nu-metal, Christian metal, Skillet’s sound has been ever-evolving.
They have developed their unique style and have therefore garnered a considerable fan base. Songs like Monster, Hero, Awake and Alive, Whispers in the dark, I feel like a monster has been fan favorites ever since they came into existence.
