Mijares or Manuel Mijares is an adult-contemporary pop singer based in the United States of America. Born as José Manuel Mijares-Morán, he reached a career-high in the mid-80 and the mid-90s mainly in Japan and Hispanic-America. His career spans over 23 years, he started his career as a background singer for Latin pop singer Emmanuel.
Mijares started his solo career after signing with EMI and releasing his eponymous album whose songs "Bella" and "Sonador" are famous hits.
Mijares is also an actor and made his debut in the movies with the movie "Escápate Conmigo" which is a Spanish movie which was a huge hit. However, after that, Mijares did not get many movie roles. He was only seen in cinemas in cameos.
Mijares's second album "Amor y Rock And Roll" was released in the year 1984. It received quite a few good reviews and did well with critics as well as the audience. The single "No se murió el Amor" ("The love did not die") was a huge success. The single was a massive hit worldwide and topped charts in Mexico and was among the Top 10 hits in Japan as well. At the Yamaha Music Festival, Mijares earned the gold medal. He is among the very few Latin singers to have won the award.
