Mavis Staples Information
American solo artist and gospel singer of rhythm and blues Mavis Staples was born in Chicago, Illinois. Other than being a singer, she also happened to be an actress and a civil rights activist. She started her musical journey with her family by the name The Staples Singers.
After graduation, The Staples Singers took their music on the road along with Mavis' voice. The group was led by Roebuck Staples (Pop's guitar tunes); they were hugely popular gospel singers' and their singing and playing advanced to become the most influential and spirituality based group in America.
Mavis' genres mainly covered R&B, Souls, Gospel, and Americana.
