Kesha Information

Kesha Rose Sebert, or as known by her stage-name Kesha, is a singer, songwriter, rapper, and an actress from Brentwood, Tennessee, U.S. She is the daughter of Rosemary Patricia ‘Pebe’ Sebert, a singer and songwriter whose famous works include the 1978 single Old Flames Can’t Hold a Candle to You she co-wrote. The single was made popular by country music singer Dolly Patron in her 1980 Dolly, Dolly, Dolly album.

Pebe had a rough time raising Kesha and her older brother. On a couple of occasions, she went to stage with Kesha alongside her as she performed. Her mother went as far as encouraging her to sing when she noticed Kesha had the talent.

While in school, Kesha played the trumpet and saxophone, scoring a near-perfect score on the SATs. She later joined the Barnard College, an affiliate of the Columbia University, but Kesha had other ambitions and dropped out just three months into her course. Instead, she started taking songwriting classes, and would often write some with the help of her mother Pebe while at home.

Pebe would give demos of Kesha’s songs to people she knew in the music industry, and two of her demos got described in a cover story for the Billboard; as a “gorgeously sung, self-penned country ballad and a gobsmackingly awful trip-hop track.

In 2005 Kesha at just age 18 got signed by Kemosabe Records. Kesha sang background vocal for the single Nothing in This World by Paris Hilton. She co-wrote the Australian pop group The Veronicas’ single This Love.
