Katy Perry Information
34-year-old Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, or as popularly known Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and TV judge born in Santa Barbara, California. Her musical career began inside a church as a little girl. The Red Hill Records signed her up at her teen years, and in 2001, Katy Perry released her first studio album, the Katy Hudson, which can be described as far from success as she might have hoped.
In 2015, Katy Perry moved to Los Angeles and ventured into secular music. At that point, the Red Hill Records had dropped her. While in LA, she was signed up and then dropped by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records. It was while in LA that she adopted the stage name, Katy Perry.
In April 2007, Katy was signed up by Capitol Records, and the following year, released her second album One of the Boys, with the tracks, I Kissed a Girl and Hot n Cold. The Hot n Cold track, elicited strong public debate given its open display of lesbianism.
Come 2010, Katy released her third album Teenage Dream, which borrowed heavily from more disco. This record was the first for Katy to hit the U.S. Billboard 200 peaking off at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album’s most notable tracks include Firework, California Gurls, Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F), Teenage Dream, and E.T. All these tracks made it to No.1 on the U.S. Billboard 100 charts; a first for a female artist at the time. Coming second, to Michael Jackson’s Bad album. She did a re-issue of the album as Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, which included the tracks Wide Awake and Part of Me.
In 2013, she released her third album Prism, which became her second to make the U.S. Billboard 100. This album made her the first female artist to have video views surpassing one billion views on Vevo. Leading the pack, was the video for the song Roar and Dark Horse.
