Songwriter, singer, actress, and TV personality sums up Christina María Aguilera. Or as popularly known, Christina Aguilera. Born on December 18, 1980, in Staten Island, New York City, Aguilera grew up in Pennsylvania.
Her first public appearance as a performer was on a TV shows in her younger years, before RCA Records signed her up in 1998. She later released her self-titled album in 1999 made it to No. 1 in the U.S. and three singles made it to No. 1; What a Girl Wants, Genie in a Bottle, and Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You).
In the early years of her musical career, Aguilera was recognized as a pop star in the contemporary teenage scene, but following her 2002 Stripped album, particularly with the single Dirrty. She completely transformed that image, setting in a more sexually explicit persona, which generated a lot of controversies. Her second single on the album, Beautiful, has a lot of empowering lyrics and was quite well received by the LGBT community.
In 2006, Aguilera released her second album, Back to Basics, which became another major hit for her by making it to the U.S. No.1 album. The collection borrowed a lot from the early 20th-century jazz, soul, and blues. Some of the most notable singles on the album include Candyman, Hurt, and Ain’t No Other Man. She followed that album with the releases of the Bionic album in 2010, Lotus in 2012, and Liberation last year. All three albums reached the top ten in the U.S.
Aguilera has also had considerable success as a featured artist on collaboration tracks such as Lady Marmalade, Feel This Moment, Say Something, and Moves like Jagger. She has also had a stint in acting, starring in the film Burlesque released in 2010. She was also a coach in the six seasons of a singing competition reality TV series The Voice, which ran from 2011 to 2016.
