Christopher Maurice Brown, or as popularly known, Chris Brown, was born in Tappahannock, Virginia on May 5, 1989. At a very young age, Brown began singing in his church choir as well as performing in several local talent shows. His big break as an aspiring young singer came in 2004 when he was signed by Jive Records. The following year, he released his self-titled debut studio album, which peaked at No.2 on U.S. Billboard 200. The album later became certified double platinum, selling over three million copies globally.
Chris’s first single Run It peaked at the very top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, making him the first male artist (after Diddy in 1997) to debut a single that rose to the top of the chart. In 2007, Chris released his second album Exclusive which included the track Kiss Kiss that rose to No.1 in BillBorad Hot 100. Other Brown’s tracks to make it to the chart were With You and Forever. The Exclusive album also sold well to become his second certified double platinum.
His career has also included some successful features on singles releases like No Air, which is a duet song with Jordin Sparks and peaked at No.3. He has also been featured by Bow Wow on Shortie Like Me, which peaked at No.9. Shawty Get Loose with T-Pain and Lil Mama, which also peaked at No.10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
Chris’s third album Graffiti included the tracks I Can Transform Ya, which was another major hit. In 2011, he released his fourth album F.A.M.E that included the tracks Yeah 3x, Beautiful People, and Look at Me Now. All of which were great hits and propelled the album to become Chris’s first Grammy Award for the Best R&B Album in the 54th Grammy Awards.
In 2012, Chris released his fifth album Fortune and followed that up with Heartbreak on a Full Moon, Royalty, and X release on the following years. All of the albums featured at the top five on the Billboard 200 charts. This year, Chris released the Indigo album, which made it to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, becoming his third album to make it to No.1 in the U.S.
Other than music, Chris Brown has persued acting career, making appearances in This Christmas in 2007, Takers in 2010, Think Lika a Man in 2012, and the Battle of the Year in 2013. To sum up Mr Brown, he has sold more than 140 million records worldwide, which has rightfully earned him the title of one of the world’s best-selling music artists. He has also bagged several awards including six Soul Train Music Awards, 15 BET Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, and a Grammy Award.
