Alessia Cara is a 23-year-old Canadian singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist from Brampton, Ontario who goes by the stage name Alessia Cara. In her childhood years, she wrote poetry and performed in theatres. At the age of 10, he was already playing the guitar and when she was 13 she started uploading her covers of songs she performed on YouTube.
In 2014, she was signed up by the Def Jam Recordings and EP Entertainment after producing some acoustic covers. After her sign up, Alessia released her debut singles in 2015. The single Here made it to No.19 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart and became a sleeper hit in the U.S. reaching a peak of No.5 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her debut studio album Know-It-All released in 2015 made it to No.8 on the Canadian Albums chart and No.9 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. In which the third single Scars to Your Beautiful made it to No.8 on the 2016 Billboard Hot 100.
Alessia has also received four Grammy awards nominations and went on to win one under the Best New Artist category in 2018. In 2018, she also released her second studio album The Pains of Growing, which was an overall moderate commercial success with two singles Growing Pains and Trust My Lonely driving most of that success.
