The architectural work for this venue is done by Ellerbe Becket. It underwent some major renovation in the year 2003 with an estimated cost of $63 million.
The Talking Stick Resort Arena hosts various events including arena football, wrestling, football, ice shows, concerts, etc. It serves home to the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League (IFL), and the Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The most common nickname for the arena is "The Purple Palace," though during the Rattlers' season it is known as "The Snake Pit."
