The Notebook - The Musical
The Ordway Centre for the performing arts, originally named as Ordway Music Centre, is located at Washington Street, Downtown, Saint Paul, Minnesota. It was opened to the public on January 1, 1985, as a music center. When it was first built, it had a McKnight Theatre with 306 seats only and was later demolished and renovated. The renovated venue consisted of a music theatre with a capacity of 19,000 seats and a concert hall with 1,903 seats. The Ordway Centre of performing arts was built with the help of Ordway’s family’s money and was also named after him in honor. The current president and CEO of Ordway Centre are Jamie Grant, and the producing artistic director is Rod Kaats. The architecture of the building was designed by the internationally known architect Benjamin C. Thompson.
Ordway center serves as a home to several art organizations and hosts several performing arts as well. The Ordway center hosts nearly 500 performances annually providing a home to a variety of performing arts, musical theatre, children’s theatre, opera, and orchestra. The Ordway Centre hosts hundreds of musical events every year where big stars and celebrities do come and perform to entertain the audience.
