The National Theater is a historic theater, and it is located at 708 E Broad St, Richmond, Virginia. It is now used as a performing art and music venue. The venue was inaugurated on 11th November 1923. It has a seating capacity of 1,500 people at a time. The theater is owned and operated by AEG Live. It underwent renovation in February 2008 with a renovation cost of around $15 million. The building was designed by a famous architect, Claude K. Howell. The National Theater is an opulent entertainment destination, filled with lavish architectural adornments in marble, plaster, and bronze. The venue hosts art exhibitions, plays and musicals, modern and classic dance performances, concerts, the Latin Ballet of Virginia and much more.
The National Theater has hosted concerts performed by Widespread Panic, Trey Anastasio, Alice Cooper, Willie Nelson, Alice in Chains, Elvis Costello, Foo Fighters, Jason Mraz, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Avett Brothers, Pat Benatar, Megadeth, The Black Crowes, Gregg Allman, The Flaming Lips, Bob Weir & Ratdog, Morrissey, and many more. The world’s biggest musical acts in the history of The National Theater are Flogging Molly, Puddle of Mud and NERD. The upcoming musical concerts at the venue will be performed by popular bands and musicians including Flying Lotus, The Midnight, Whitney, Yung Gravy, Pup, and Snarky Puppy.
