St. Cloud State Huskies at North Dakota Fighting Hawks Mens Hockey
Ralph Engelstad Arena (REA), commonly called the Ralph, is an indoor arena located at One Ralph Engelstad Arena Drive, Grand Forks, North Dakota. It serves as the current home to the University of North Dakota men's ice hockey and basketball for men and women.
The arena also hosts many non-athletic events including concerts and a yearly circus called the "Taj Mahal of hockey." It has a seating capacity of around 11640 for hockey, 12119 for basketball, and 13154 for the concert. Ralph arena was inaugurated with an opening hockey match on 5 October 2001. Although located on the campus of UND, the venue is owned by The Engelstad Family Foundation and rented conditionally to UND each year. Arena Networks operate the Ralph Englestad Arena.
The ICON Architectural Group led the design and construction of the arena which took 18 months to be completed. Several renovations have been made with the most recent one in 2019 (addition of scoreboard and LED ribbon display).
Notable events held at the arena include NCAA Men's Hockey tournament 2006, World Men's Curling Championship 2008, along with family-friendly ice shows such as Stars on Ice, Disney's High School Musical on ice and many others. The famous artists who performed here include Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Sugarland, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and many others.
