The Carpenter Theatre is the formal name to the Richmond CenterStage. This venue is a Performing arts center opened in the year 1928. It is located at 600 E. Grace Street, Richmond, Virginia, United States. It was formerly known as the Carpenter Theatre Centre for the Performing Arts. The venue includes the Altria Theatre. This theatre was originally a Loew’s Theatre movie palace which was designed by John Eberson.
The Carpenter Theatre has a seating capacity of an estimated 1800 people at a time. The type of this place is a proscenium theatre. It was renamed as Dominion Energy Centre in 2015. The foundation has been rebranded as the Richmond Performing Arts Alliance. This venue as merged with the Virginia Performing Arts Foundation in the early 2000s. Currently, the center includes venues in two different locations. The theatre has 20 dressing rooms, beautiful acoustics, 4 refreshment bars featuring state-of-the-art lightning.
