Heinz field stadium is under the ownership of Sports and Exhibition Authority of Allegheny County and Pittsburgh. The architecture of the stadium was designed by Populous. The venue opens to the south end creates a connection between stadium and downtown, making the city as part of the experience of the game day. It underwent renovation on June 18, 1990, by Dan Rooney (the owner of Steelers).

The first concert that was held at the Heinz field was performed on August 18, 2001, by N Sync. Some other famous artists who have played at this venue are LeAnn Rimes, Luke Bryan, and Kenny Chesney. Garth Brooks concert is considered as the biggest selling event in the history of Heinz Field.
