Nutcracker Magical Christmas Ballet
The Orpheum Theatre, which is also known as New Orpheum Theatre and Orpheum Electric Building, is a performing art center which is located at 528 Pierce St, Sioux City, IA. It was built on December 19, 1927, as a vaudeville and movie place. The seating capacity of this venue is 2,690 for moving picture houses along with a vaudeville that is a six-story auditorium. Sioux City local businessman, Arthur Sanford was a significant builder promoter who spent a construction coast of $1.75 million. Nationally knowing Chicago firm Rapp and Rapp have designed the architecture of the Orpheum Theater. The venue was constructed as a part of the Orpheum Circuit in 1927. In the year of 1982, the Theater was used in film houses and also worked as a cinema.
The Orpheum Theatre Preservation Project, Ltd (OTPP) was established in 1989 for renovation and collecting the funds. Beam Shearson directed the restoration of the Theater with a renovation cost of about $12 million. The Orpheum Theater was reopened publically on September 15, 2001. The Orpheum serves the current home to the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000
