The Webster Hall is a concert venue and a night club. It was formerly known as The Ritz. The Webster Hall is located at East 11th Street, New York City. It was built and opened to the general public in the year 1886. Charles Rentz designed the architecture of the venue. The Webster Hall consists of a Grand Ball Room which a seating capacity of 1,500, a Marlin Room having a capacity of 600, and a studio with a capacity of around 400. The venue is under the ownership of Unity Gallega, Brooklyn Sports Entertainment, and the Bowery Presents. Child Goldstein operates the hall. It is one of the most historically significant theaters and event halls of New York City.
The Webster Hall served host to countless weddings, lectures, dances, labor union labor rallies, military functions, fundraisers, concerts, and other events. Webster Hall featured some famous artists and bands including U2, Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses, Eric Clapton, Tina Turner, Sting, The Pretenders, Prince, KISS, Cro-Mags, and B.B. King.
The Bowery Ballroom presented concert series at the hall featuring acts such as The Hives, The Infected Mushrooms, Sonic Youth, John Butler, Modest Mouse, and John Mayer. Tito Rodriguez and Tito Puente are Latin performers who performed at the venue.
