The SHN Orpheum Theatre, genuinely named as the Pantages Theatre, is located at the 1192 Market, San Francisco, California. It has a seating capacity of 2,197 patrons. The Theatre was opened to the general public in 1926. The architecture of the building is designed by the famous architect, B. Marcus Priteca. The venue is under the ownership and operated by SHN. The major renovation of the Theatre took place in 1998 to make it more appropriate for Broadway shows with a cost of $20 million. The venue is a locally designated San Francisco landmark by the San Francisco Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board. The Kern/Hammerstein musical ‘’Show Boat’’ was the first production staged after the renovation of the Theatre in April 1998. Some notable shows held at the venue, The Grateful Dead (performed six times in the Theatre in July 1976), Late Night with Conan O’Brien (2007). Productions that happened in the Orpheum Theatre included Bring It On, The Musical(2011-2012), Evita(1979), Mama Mil(2000-2001), and The Act(1977). Most recently the smash hit Hamilton played an extended run at the Orpheum Theatre San Francisco.
