The Wharton Center is a performing arts center. It is on the campus of Michigan State University. The Wharton Center is the largest performing arts venue in Michigan State. It is located at Shaw Ln, East Lansing, Michigan. The Wharton Center opened for the general public in the year 1982. The venue consists of a hall named Cobb Great Hall which has a seating capacity of about 2,254 people at a time. It is the largest venue in the Wharton Centre. It also consists of a theatre named Pasant Theatre which has a seating capacity of about 585 people at a time. It is the smaller theatre stage at the Wharton Center. The architecture of the venue was designed by Caudill Rowlett Scott designs architects of Houston and Harley Ellington Pierce Yee of the South Field.
The Wharton Center serves as a prominent art center for Broadway shows and theater. The Cobb Great Hall hosts large performances, concerts, recitals, and speakers. Whereas the Pasant Theatre serves as the home to Act One Family and School Series. Other than that many speakers and theatre performances are also held at the venue. Broadway shows, dance, comedy, concerts, operas, plays, and family shows are regularly held at the Wharton Center. The venue has hosted popularly known violinist Jascha Heifetz, Berlin Philharmonic and soprano Beverly Sills.
