The venue was opened to the general public in the year 1926 with a seating capacity of 2,827 people at a time. The Palace is owned and operated by Columbus Association for the Performing Arts. It was last repaired and painted with a renovation cost of around$6.5 million. The architecture of the theatre was designed by an American architect, Thomas W. Lamb. With a grand staircase, chandeliers mural, a fountain, and a hall of autographed pictures, the venue is a delightful destination for an evening with the arts. The Palace was renamed to the Radio Keith Orpheum Palace in 1929 and was converted into touring Broadway shows and opera Columbus.
