It is a Performing Arts Center that was inaugurated in January 1988. The venue was built by an independent non-profit corporation, Friends of the Cultural Center, Inc. and it is owned and operated by the same. The Anthony and Langford Architects designed the architecture of the building. The opening ceremony of the concert venue was accompanied by Bob Hope via a nationally televised concert on January 2, 1988. The theater is considered as an intimate jewel by the legends. It was rated as the top ticket-selling venue in California by Pollstar magazine.
