The Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts (TUCPA) was initially known as the Civic Auditorium. It is commonly known as Times Union Center. It is a performing arts center. The venue is located at West Water Street, Jacksonville Riverwalk, Downtown Jacksonville, Florida. Times Union Center opened to the general public on September 16, 1962. The venue has a Jim and Jan Moran Theatre which has a seating capacity of about 3,000 people, the Robert E. Jacoby Symphony Hall that has a seating capacity of 1,700 people, and the C. Herman and Mary Virginia Terry Theatre that has a seating capacity of over 600 people at a time. The venue is under the ownership of the City Of Jacksonville. SMG operates it. The Auchter Company built the theater. It went through renovations in the years 1995 and 1997. The Jim and Jan Moran Theatre at the Times Union Center is the main venue for performances.
Times Union Center Jacksonville events include genres of all types from rock to the gospel. Talent showcase by the students of Douglas Anderson School of the Arts is held at the venue annually. The Robert E. Jacoby Symphony Hall is a concert hall that is mainly used for orchestral performances. The C. Herman and Mary Virginia Terry Theatre is recital hall. It used for dance recitals, poetry readings, and comedy shows.
