American Bank Center is an entertainment complex, located at 1901 N Shoreline Blvd, Corpus Christi, Texas 78401, USA. The center was opened in 1967. It has a large Selena auditorium (Selena Quintanilla – Perez, was a Tejano Entertainer), American Bank Center Convention Center and American Bank Center Arena. The venue has a seating capacity of 10,000 people in the arena and around 2500 people in the Selena auditorium with a unique design split-tiered seating system. The place was renovated in the year 2002 and next, 2005, and is under the ownership of City of Corpus Christi.
The Convention Center offers a vast space that is divided into 10 different ballrooms, 5 exhibit halls, and 27 meeting rooms. At the time of opening, it was known as, “Bayfront Plaza Convention Center.” Later in November 2004, it got renamed as, “American Bank Center Convention Center.”
The Selena Auditorium was opened in 1979 and first named as, “Bayfront Plaza Auditorium” which was later renamed in 1996 as, “Selena Auditorium.” This auditorium was the filming location of a popular show, “Johnny Canales Show.” It is said to be one of the most visited areas in Texas for the entertainment.
The American Bank Center Arena was built in 2004 with a seating capacity of 10,000 people for sporting events and concerts. The cost of this project was over $49 Million.
