The venue was opened to the general public on September 21, 2002. The Sames Auto Arena has a seating capacity of about 8,065 people for the ice hockey games, 8,067 at the arena for football games, 10,000 for basketball games, and 11,360 people for a concert. The Sames Auto Arena is under the ownership of the City Of Laredo. It is operated by SMG. The architecture of the arena is designed by the architect Lockwood and Andrews & Newnam.
