The Mankato Civic Center is a multi-purpose arena which is located at 1 Civic Center Plaza, Mankato. It has a seating capacity of 8,200 people for concerts and 5,280 seats for ice hockey, along with an extensive exhibit/banquet hall, state-of-the-art conference center, and unique reception and banquet halls. This venue hosts a variety of events including concerts, sports, conventions, and much more. It was built in 1994 and was opened to the general public on February 3, 1995. It is owned and operated by the city of Mankato. The architecture of the venue was designed by Franklin Ellerbe. Primarily, the Center hosts hockey games, concerts, and conventions. It currently serves home to the Minnesota State Mavericks men's ice hockey team.
Some former names to the venue are Mankato Civic Center, Midwest Wireless Civic Center, Alltel Center, Verizon Center, and Verizon Wireless Center. Some notable events held at this Center are Aerosmith, Disney Live, WWE Live, Monster Jam, etc. Some popular artists that performed at the Center are Elton John, James Taylor, Jeff Dunham, John Mellencamp, Kenny Rogers, KISS, Tom Petty, and many more.
