The Cambria County War Memorial Arena is located at 326 Napoleon Street, Johnstown, PA 15901, Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, United States. Being a multi-purpose arena, it has a seating capacity of 4,001. The arena is under the ownership of Cambria County and operated by SMG. It was constructed in 1950 for the Eastern Hockey League, on the site of the Union Cemetery. The arena was opened on 31st October 1949. It was home to Johnstown Chiefs (Ice Hockey) for 22 years and an alternate venue of the Wheeling Nailers. The arena is home to Johnstown Tomahawks (NAHL) and the Pitt-Johnstown Ice Cats.
The Cambria County Arena underwent a renovation of $8million which was completed in August 2003. It was nominated for the top 10 of the Kraft Hockeyville USA contest with the Pullar Stadium, HealthyZonk Rink, etc. Cambria County War Memorial Arena is home to various high school ice hockey teams and is represented by the Johnstown warriors who compete in the PAHL.
Some well-known events that took place at this venue are annual PIAA Southwest Regional Wrestling Tournament, basketball championship games for PIAA District 6, Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference, etc. Also, some great performances held at the Cambria County arena include AC/DC, Beach Boys, Crosby, Dolly Portion, Lonestar, ZZ Top, etc.
