Dungeons and Dragons - The Twenty-Sided Tavern
The Shubert Theatre is located in Boston, Massachusetts. On January 24, 1910, it was opened to the public with a production of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew starring E.H. Sothern and Julia Marlowe. This building was designed by Architect Thomas M. James (Hill, James, & Whitaker). This theatre can seat around 1600 people. It was known as The Lyric Theatre and owned by the developer Charles H. Bond. After his death, it was taken over by The Shubert Organization.
In 1990, The Shubert Organization was registered to the National Register of Historic Places. Along with the Shubert Organization, the Wang Center made a deal to operate the theatre for 40 years. In 2016, The Boch family bought the naming rights and renamed it as the Shubert Theatre at the Boch Center.
Since its opening, the Shubert Theatre has hosted world premieres and memorable performances. It has hosted Shakespeare's plays and pre-Broadway tryouts, like The King and I, South Pacific, Camelot, and Mame. Apart from that, the theatre has brought legendary performers including John Barrymore, Richard Burton, Sir John Gielgud, Mary Martin, and Julie Andrews. Today, it is considered as the best practice institution and nonprofit arts leader.
