The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which is formally called the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the performing arts, is located at 2700 F Street, NW, Washington, D.C. The place was opened on September 8, 1971, with a seating capacity of 2,454 at Concert Hall, 2,294 at the Opera House, 1,161 at Eisenhower Theater, 475 at Terrace Theater, 398 at Terrace Lab, 320 at Family Theater, and 160 at Jazz Club. The place is owned by the United States Government and operated by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, David Rubenstein, and Chairman Deborah Rutter, President.

Architect of the Center was designed by Edward Durell Stone. The center hosts music, dance, and theater shows. It also supports new artists to present their creations. The center has hosted free events from all over the state. It has hosted many inauguration events as well as the galas. George Bernard Shaw’s Caesar and Cleopatra performed with Rex Harrison and Elizabeth Ashley in a concert which was hosted by the Opera House in 1977. Productions of The Lion King and Trevor Nunn’s production of My Fair Lady were presented in 2007-2008 at this venue.
