The Schermerhorn Symphony Center is a passage hall located in downtown at One Symphony Place, Nashville. The ground was shattered for the construction on December 3, 2003. The center was built on April 26, 2005, and opened to the general public on September 9, 2006. The City of Nashville owns the venue. The architecture of the Schermerhorn Symphony Center was designed by Earl Swensson Associates, David M. Schwarz Architects, and Hastings Architecture Associates. The construction cost of the venue was $123.5 million. The old Schermerhorn Symphony Center is a protruding example of 21st-century Neoclassical Architecture.
The Schermerhorn Symphony Center was recognized as one of 25 North and South American finalists in the Urban Land Institute’s ULI for its excellence in 2009. The center hosted many notable public and private events. At the inauguration ceremony of Schermerhorn Symphony Center, a gala concert was performed by Leonard Slatkin which was broadcast by PBS affiliates throughout the country. There is a variety of orchestras that played at the venue, such as jazz, pop, classical, etc.
