Petersen Events Center is commonly known as The Pete. It is a multi-purpose arena. The arena is named after the philanthropists John Petersen and his wife Gertrude. Petersen Events Center is located at the Terrace Street, Pittsburgh, PA. It was opened to the public on April 27, 2002, with a seating capacity of 12,508 people at a time. The Petersen Events Center is owned by the University of Pittsburgh. It is operated by SMG Facility Management. The venue is designed by the architect popular as Apostolou Associates Rosser International of Atlanta. The Petersen Events Center also includes the Willis Center for student-athletes. Auxiliary practice basketball facility, athlete training, office, and media facilities are also featured within the site.

The Petersen Events Center serves as the home to Panthers basketball teams. Several notable music events were held at the Petersen Events Center such as Katy Perry’s California Dreams Tour, Avril Lavigne’s The Avril Lavigne Tour, Demi Lovato’s Demi World Tour, Ariana Grande’s The Honeymoon Tour and many more. The arena played host to a fictional mixed martial arts tournament along with Jennifer Morrison and Nick Nolte in the movie Warrior.
