The Forrest Theatre is a live theatre which is located at 1114 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The place was opened for the public on May 1st, 1928. It has a seating capacity of around 1,851 people at a time. The Forrest Theatre is owned and operated by the Shubert Organization. The architecture of the arena was designed by Herbert J. Krapp. The theatre's name was decided in honor of the famous actor in the 19th century who was born in Philadelphia and was known as, Edwin Forrest. He owned and lived in the Edwin Forrest House. On the inauguration day of the venue, Red Robe performed a concert to entertain the audience at the newly opened theatre.
The Forrest Center went through its renovation process in the year 1997, which resulted in the addition of the handicapped-accessible restrooms with the new decorations.
The place has hosted some of the significant events of all time and served big-name stars of their time. The venue honored itself with performances such as "Funny Girl" in 1963, "Wonderful Town" in 1953, "The Music Man" in 1957, and "Make Mine Manhattan" in 1948.
