The Nashville Municipal Auditorium is located at 417 Fourth Avenue North, Nashville, Tennessee. It is an indoor sporting arena and a concert venue that was opened to the public on October 7, 1962. It has a seating capacity of around 9,700 with 9,432 reserved in the round, and 8,000 seating space for basketball. The arena is owned and operated by Metropolitan Govt. of Nashville & Davidson County, Tennessee. The venue went through its renovation in the year 1993.
The Nashville Municipal Auditorium has hosted hundreds of sporting events since its inauguration. With the teams known as the Knights, South Stars, Dixie Flyers, Nashville Ice Flyers, and NightHawks, the arena has hosted several minor league hockey games. In 1994, the NMA hosted the United States Gymnastics Championships. The Auditorium was a place to host minor league basketball. It also hosts the annual Magnet Madness basketball game that is played between rivals Martin Luther King Magnet and Hume-Fogg High School. In Your House 2: The Lumberjacks, a WWF’s production was also held at this arena in 1995, as well as World Championship Wrestling, that hosted its Starrcade in 1994, 1995, and 1996. The arena had also been honored with the performance of Michael Jackson with The Jackson 5 on December 29, 1970.
